Songwriting Workshop

In November I was one of four artists invited to present workshops for the high school students at the Maine Coast Waldorf School in Freeport , ME. I had 13 students, all very well prepared to work on their songwriting. At the end of the three days they performed the songs they had written - I was greatly impressed with their talent, enthusiasm, and support for each other. And what a great school, with a brand new high school building!

New CD Arrives Shortly!

ALL THE MERCIES, my new CD, featuring nine new songs and an older instrumental, will be shipped from factory in the next few days. It's been a long time in the making, and those involved in the production are in great anticipation.

MASC "Silver" for Dews Tune

My song, "Bread Out Of Stones" won Silver in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest Vocal/Jazz Blues category! Gold and Silver winners were invited to perform at the Association's Gala at Jammin Java in Vienna, VA on Jan. 19, and I enjoyed doing that despite being without my bass player, Henry Cross.

New CD Shaping Up

I'm working hard now trying to finish up on a ten song collection, "Loves Cane Syrup". The name was suggested by my children - they were trying to think of how to describe their Dad, and I have always preferred cane syrup, though it's mostly a thing of the past.

TPFF Showcase Winner

Tom Dews won the Takoma Park Folk Festival Emerging Artists Showcase in 2005, and fans are still discovering that award winning performance on cable TV broadcasts. You can see a clip of it on You Tube!
